    Well PeteC. We were on the right track. It seems it did have Sony and microsoft software issues. On the advice of Sony I was advised to exchange or return the notebook. I've elected to return it.

    Seems like you won the war :) Of course Sony would never admit it was probably their software rather than that of MS which was to blame!

    Good luck with the replacement, whatever that may be - obviously not Sony :D

    Definately not Sony. Already configured an HP dv6tse Select Edition customizable Notebook PC. Win. Ult(64bit), i5-450M, 6gigs DDR3, 500GB 7200RPM SATA HDD, 15.6" LED HP Brightview wide screen display(1366x768). backlit keyboard with fingerprint reader.

    That should fly :) Incidentally I recently updated my laptop to an HP ProBook 4520s wth i5-M430 & 4 Gb RAM same screen size and resolution as yours - well pleased - my 3rd HP laptop.

    This is my second HP laptop. I guess the sony thing can be chalked up to . Tmporary Insanity.
