Resolved [LCD screen pixelates on entering Hibernation]

    Hi all

    I have recently had a problem, (last 3 days), my lcd display breaks up into a heavily pixellated screen when I attempt to go into hibernation, my op sys is XP Pro Service Pack 2, my psu if 450 watts, my graphics card is ati radeon 9550 256Mb, my drivers have all been updated recently using drivercure, and windows update, only one not downloaded is service pack 3.

    Any help would be appreciated

    This is rather wierd and I've not come across this before :).

    I would disable hibernation through Power Options, reboot (which removes the hiberfil.sys file) and then re-enable hibernation and see if the issue remains.

    Hibernation stores a snapshot of the state of the computer in RAM so that may be questionable. IMHO hibernation, once you appreciate what is involved in the process, should be avoided, but the choice is your's of course.

    A couple of sidenotes .....
    Support for Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) and Windows 2000 ended on July 13, 2010. This means that security updates will no longer be offered for these platforms.

    You will not be able to obtain further updates until you install SP3.
    There is only one reliable source of driver updates and that is the manufacturer's web site. Surprisingly driver updates from MS can cause issues.

    Check that you have the correct drivers for your ATI card here ....

    I have done as you advised, downloaded drivers and reinstalled, it has fixed the problem, your advice is appreciated.
