I was given a free license for the above but must admit that spam and unwanted e-mails are generally of no concern. In light of this, is there any value to installing the program, particularly in light of today's browser's with spam filters?

I don't know how well the integrated (in Email clients) spam filters work but I know that MailWasher works. I use Outlook Express and in 2006 I was hit by 50-100 spam Emails a day. I installed MW Free and started marking all those spam Emails "bad" and the rest as "good ". I just had MW delete the spam, no bouncing. It took a few weeks but then I noticed a reduction. After a few months, I only received a handful a week. Now, receiving a spam Email is a rare occurrence. My "black list" expires the addresses after 365 days and it currently holds 14 addresses. This means that I have received 14 spam Emails during the last year.

Thank you for that information, Christer. It's helpful to me in deciding whether to install it or not. :)

My 2 cents - I have used MailWasher for a number of years. I used the free version for several years and then switched over to the Pro version 3 or 4 years ago. I could exist without MailWasher but I like being able to see my e-mail and handle it prior to download to my computer. Not only can I view and handle my Pop3 mail from my internet provider but I can preview my Gmail account mail via MailWasher as well.

I do like the new Pro version they have developed. I have been satisfied with the value I have gotten from the paid versions of MailWasher and will continue unless something changes.

Thank you, Robert. I've marked this thread as resolved. While there really wasn't an "issue" per se with the program, it was more a matter of trying to make a determination as to whether the program was of any value to the average user. I use Windows Live Mail and Hotmail which syncs with my Live Mail. Both have Spam catchers which can be trained and both seem to do a reasonable job at catching what little spam I receive. Therefore, adding Mail Washer Pro to the mix seemed somewhat superfluous. I do, however, like the idea of being able to preview mail prior to downloading it. I'll probably give it a try for a few weeks (since it was a gift from a friend) and see how I like working with it.
