A friend had her laptop off because she had lost her internet access. I can hear the laughter with as many threads as I have had but I did give it a college try. This is a Dell inspiron 1525 with vista 32 with DSL and ATT service, The System page gives very little info, all pertinent info is unavailable.
It was special ordered by a local shop and it has had several issues, which the local shop didn't honor the Dell Warranty, This laptop doesn't have a battery, because the computer will not charge the battery. The last couple of days it quit accessing the internet, last night, it was accessible through goggle chrome but but is not tonight. I went into safe mode and tried the last configutation date, System restore will not function in either mode. I ran diagosics and there was 1 error on DST. The computer is not reconizing any network. All suggetions welcome.
    Thanks,
    Dee

Open Device Manager and see if there are any red x's or yellow flags next to the network adapter(s). Open a command prompt and type the following without the quotes and paste all the results back here, "ipconfig /all ".

I agree. Please mention the operating system as well. If you have VISTA or Windows 7 try running the network diagnostics tool first. Report the results.

Thanks for your suggestions but I think we have all wasted our time. After I posted, I continued to troubleshoot and more bizarre things began to happen, it would not run for short periods of time in normal mode and power off. I had to use safe mode for everything. Ran diagnostics and there hardware errors, restore system had error and would not function ( did this before diagnostics), WLAN utility icon in control panel would not open. it was a nightmare. The outcome is that it is going to the Depot at Dell for them to repair. Meant to remove the post but forgot. By the way, just curious but the LT had no battery backup and became unplugged frequently while powered on, could that have damaged the LT?
I won't inactivate this post until one of you reply, I suppose it's resolved as far as the network is concerned.
    Thanks a lot
    Dee
