windows root system32 hal.dll file missing

    windows root system32 hal.dll file missing, so I have to put my windows xp home edition cd in and it will let me back on, but my cd is sp2 not sp3 is there anywhere I can go buy sp3 at. or how can I fix this.

    If you have a legitimate copy of Windows then SP3 is free. You can download it at Microsoft Update. There was a time you could order a free CD but I believe that time has passed.
