I have been trying to reload Google earth after a lightning strike trashed the pci bus of my PC running XP sp2 . I managed ti get it running but needed to re-install a number or programs and hardware drivers and the functionality now is just about acceptable with broadband access and most programmes running with the exception of MS office which I am unable to install (I've loaded Open Office and that's OK.).
My main problem is trying to load Google earth and nymber of attempts to load brings up "Error Code 0x80040905" and searching on the net advises "Uninstall hardware -GE however it does not appear on the installed list running the *.msi microsoft uninstal package brings up the message " you are rynning in safe mode or hace not installed the uninstaller.
My last attempt was to manually delete ALL fines with "Google" in their filename but still the same problem.
Any ideas why this is happening and how I can install GE?
