I have upgraded my OS from Windows XP to Windows 7 Ultimate.
The package came as 2 discs one is for 32bit configuration which is now installed and I am using, the other disc which is for a 64bit configuration has never been installed.
I am considering buying or even building myself a new computer as this one is quite old.
My question is ------ can I legally use the 64bit disc to load Windows 7 Ultimate onto a new computer, seeing as I have already used the 32bit disc and if I can, would it load anyway seeing as I bought it originally as an upgrade for Windows XP. Mike Devon

    Nope. Your Win7 dvd wasn't a 2 for 1 sale.

    One key code per machine...

Thank you for your quick reply, however can I uninstall the 32bit version on my present computer and go back to Windows XP and then use the 64bit on a new computer?

I don't think that is possible regarding Windows 7 - Vista maybe - see ......

    How to uninstall Windows 7

I think you would need to install XP from scratch with a format - it may activate without issue as the hardware will not have changed. Otherwise you will need to activate via telephone to MS.

In theory you can use an Upgrade DVD to make a clean install of Windows 7 - see ....

Clean Install Windows 7 with Upgrade Media

Again you may have to activate by telephone as the install is on a new computer.
