Having a problem getting windows defender to turn on....whenever I click on the windows defender icon, a message reads that "service is turned off "... Message also gives the option to turn it on...but still will not activate.....

I need this service on for obvious reasons, and want it to run continuously with current updates.....any ideas on how to correct this problem?

    Thanks.....rocknroller...

Are you running Win 7 by any chance? If so - there are a few threads on this subject.

Also if you are using Microsoft Security Essentials, the Windows Defender won't start.
