Everytime I run Windows Update, it shows NETFrame 3.5 SP-1 is not installed. However, going to the Control Panel, bringing up Add/Remove option, it shows all NETFrame options, including additional security updates are installed. I finally checked the "HIDE" button so it won't keep coming up. I could not find anything on the Microsoft website addressing this issue. Would appreciate any thoughts on how to avoid these issues in the future.

    Dennis,
I had massive problems installing the latest updates for NET Framework, and my set up was like you described. In another post on this site a link was given to Microsoft Support and I contacted Microsoft Support by email. I received a reply within 24 hours, and from then on I had detailed emails with support from a support person. I learnt so much about NET Framework from this experience. Try this to contact Microsof by email.

I had to uninstall all NET Frameworks with their uninstaller which didn't work, so they sent me another one which did work. I was also able to ask what this NET Framework was all about = It is optional software. they advised me that This means that some programs such as Turbo Tax need .NET Framework to run. I have nothing on my computer that would require NET Framework to run, so I have uninstalled the lot with the second uninstall utility Microsoft sent me.

Also, I have turned off Automatic Updates so I can have more control about what is downloaded onto my computer. I have set my Updates to Notify me, then I choose what I want. Second Tuesday of every month.

As this is so complex, I didn't go into detail about all my trials and tribulations with NET Framework, but thankfully Microsoft was there for me.
    Regards,
