For this purpose, we don't need a fancy video editor with tons of features, just one with the most basic of all, such as:

    - Clipping in / out points

    - Clipping points INSIDE a video

    - Combining different video files into one

I like things like "Any Video Converter ", to some degree, but it can't clip WITHIN a file (sometimes there are pauses or noises which need to be removed) or combine files, so it's of very limited value.

I would be interested in hearing recommendations for freeware, shareware or for-sale programs. I just want to know what people are using.

Thanks, I will try that one.

I found out the latest version of AVC Free also has better features, but I can't get it to run properly; 2.x all works fine, but 3.x won't play any of the vids which 2.x played just fine (hence I can't edit anything). I tried all the usual things like uninstalling and reinstalling and rebooting etc etc but the pattern holds.
