    Hello verycleanfloor,

The zoom size only effects the view size of the picture, while you are looking at it, not the size of the picture, much like looking at a picture under a magnifying glass does not literally change the picture size.

To do what you need or are trying to do see the following directions:
    create a MSN display picture

Slightly edited instructions snipped from the above link:

    Sorry,

On reread I see that you are looking for instructions on how to make an msn display pic out of a video. As I understand it, you can't do this from an existing video. It has to meet certain criteria such as "be under 4 seconds long ", "created from a web cam ", etc....
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/...-a-display-picture-for-Windows-Live-Messenger

I don't use msn messenger and am unfamiliar with the options and procedures for such. Let me look around a bit more and see what I can find out.

I will need to know what version of messenger you are using and if you happen to have a link to the page, that told you to use irfanview, that would also be helpful.

    hm....
    okay

well... i really want this certain video to be my dynamic display, so i think i can just cut the length?
the problem is, when i use AVS video editor 4, when i try to trim the video, the animation doesn't play, and i can't shorten it, so, do i convert the file or something?

here is the place that told me to use ifranview, to be honest, i didn't read the entire thread:

    http://www.windowsbbs.com/other-sof...-files-smaller-so-i-can-add-emotions-msn.html

As for MSN messenger version, I don't know how to check my version, but, I know it's MSN messenger plus. MSN automatically updates every now and then, so it should be the latest... :p sorry if that's not helpful

btw..... i still want to know how to pause in Ifranview....

    sorry if that's confusing
    thanks

    Hello again verycleanfloor,

Had you read all of link you used for reference to resizing with irfanview, you would have found out that this could not be done as simply as you were hoping. May I suggest you read all of it, then see this:
    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic72020.html

This is for animated gif's. Due to messenger software encoding, special extension formating and certified file requirements, plus limitations put into place because of security risks, I'm still not convinced that you can do what your trying to do nor if it is worth all the trouble you seem to be about to go to. I don't and won't use messenger, so I have gone about as far as I can in helping you with this. Please read links thoroughly as any help or clarification you may need will be found in them.

You may also find this forum helpful. I think it is the official messenger live forum:
    http://www.msghelp.net/

If you do find a way/method/recipe of succeeding at this, please remember to share it and keep your post updated with what ever you find. Should you decide to abandon this task an update, both good or bad, would also be nice to see.

------- Below, you will find additional unfinished reference links, from google, that I was prescreening for you. I will continue to pluck away at these, at my leisure. Since this is your project and interest you may wish to do the same.
