Just to save you some reading, the link provided by jmatt explains how to return to an earlier version - not how to rid your system of it completely.

    re: IEeradicator

I followed the link posted by Brett but what it said is you can use IEeradicator to remove all IE versions but then some program will not work (such as NAV). So it doesn't seem right?

I am running a server with window 2000 pro with apache and think that w/o IE or ANY windows browser will help, security wise.

I don't know if this makes a difference to you, but I'm using Win98 and ran IEradicator the other day. MY Norton AV works fine, but then again, I reinstalled an older version of IE on my system.

If the browser isn't running you won't have a security issue. And IE is so tightly integrated into many of the later M$ operating systems that complete removal may have unexpected effects.

How about just renaming iexplore.exe to something else which should prevent it being accidently started?
