I use netscape 4.79 as browser but have been having problems with it (maybe it's ME!)---I thought I would just clear it out and use IE and outlook express---I went to add/remove programs and it isn't listed there--checked programs and could find no way of installing it---How do I get rid of netscape 4.79? There must be some way to unstall it--Thanks for the help

    Hi Connor,

I would recommend reinstalling 4.79, then uninstalling.

If you want to use 4.79 I would be more than glad to help you troubleshoot whatever problems you have been having.

Thanks for amswering. My problem is--I'll be in a board game (bridge) and suddenly a square will pop up and say Mail server responded
    Connection closed by peer
    Please enter a new password
    "Password entry dialog "
At this time the computer freezes up and I have to manually shut down and reboot. I can click esc two times and then ctrl, alt, delete and reboot without having to do the scan routine. After rebooting this may not happen for several days or weeks or may repeat immediatly and then not happen for days or weeks.

Once in a great while while sending mail I get this square--Error occured while sending mail
    SMPT server error
    Contact your mail server
    for assistance
One click takes care of this most times.Any suggestions. These are not big problems but annoying. Thanks

    Hi Connor,

On the "Connection closed by peer ":

This error usually means that the site you are connected to has reset the connection. This is usually caused by a high amount of traffic on the site, but could also be caused by a server error.

The SMPT error is most probably a server error, and I'm wondering if you have contacted your ISP? If your server has a FAQ or Technical Support Page, I would check it out. I used FWWWeb for a year or so, and I was constantly getting these errors. If this error is intermittent, then I assume that your SMTP settings are correct, and you have verified them with your ISP.
