Resolved Automatic Updates failed [Office 2007]

I had 20 updates the other day and 8 of them failed to install successfully. KB982331, KB982135, KB983486, KB982124, KB982158, KB979441, KB982308 and KB982312. All of these are for Microsoft Office 2007. Where can I go to manually download these? I couldn't find it at Microsoft.

 

I tried to do the manual install and it won't install. It says it failed. Any ideas? My Office 2007 seems to run fine but I understand these to be security updates.

Without more specific information, I'm afraid we cannot be of much help.

Are there any particular error codes displayed when your updates fail? Those codes (and exact wording of the error messages) may be helpful for locating possible solutions.

Perhaps your windowsupdate.log file in your Windows folder (That's the location in Windows XP anyway.) contains specific information that may be useful.

I do not know offhand whether or not Office updates are logged elsewhere. Perhaps not. You can look at the KB numbers in your windowsupdate.log to make that determination.

Such specific information may be useful for Googling possible solutions.

It may also be helpful for us to know what OS you're using and hardware/software configuration.

 

I'm using Vista 64 bit. The error code that I'm receiving is 646. The message that I'm receiving is "Security Update for 2007 Microsoft Office System (KB982331) has stopped working. "

 

I found the solution if anyone else is having this issue. Disconnect from the internet and restart the computer. Then it will install without a problem...Go figure. LOL
