I have a Sony DVD-RW, DRU840A, IDE. I installed an IDE to SATA cable to it. I installed it into a HPE 150t, which has only SATA slots, no IDE slots. Everything was straight forward as I have been installing upgrades for decades. BUT, alas, it is not recognized. Sony and HP both tell me that the DVD is compatible. Sony tells me that there is no requirement for a driver installation as the DVD is PAP. Hopefully, it will be second to an existing Blu-ray RW. Should I have installed a jump at CS? I believe that there is no requirement for Master or Slave, because it is in a SATA environment. Anyone?

It sure wouldn't hurt trying the different jumpers. Might make it work;)

AND, I did both. Of course, nothing improved and this is why. I just received this email from Sony, have already been told that the DVD in question, is compatible. A lot of time wasted.

"Dear Gary, We do not support our drives on conversion cables. Also this drive is only supported on 32-bit systems, not 64-bit systems."

I continue to be throughly disgusted with these "off-shore" help groups. I wonder if their training is nothing more than how to search a company's manual. Thank god for a BBS like this one.

    Thank you,
    Gary N
