I have a new netbook Compaq mini which came with XP installed. THe XP is in Spanish. This leaves me with keys that do not match up with the logo on the keys. Is there any way of changing things so that pressing shift and 6 produces the ampersand (as the keyboard indicates) instead of ^ which is what I get when i press shift and 6. Hope this is understandable!

Try >Start>Control Panel>Regional & Language and weed your way around in there - Set language to English, Keyboard to US, etc. See if it makes a difference - Hope so.

    Good Luck

    keyboard

Thanks. I went to regional settings and the language is set to English, under the advanced tab, the keyboard is also set to English. Why should I set the keyboard to US?

Guess it depends on which language you want. If its set to English - switch to Spanish.

Go to Start>Control Panel>Regional and language options. Under Regional Options select Spanish. Under the Languages Tab click Details and then click Add. Under Input Language select Spanish. Then click OK and apply. Note that there are multiple Spanish versions and you should select the variety of Spanish according to your region.:D
