If I understand what you are wanting, try this. Right Click on the INBOX and set another Folder. Name this folder B. If you have two accounts already set, B could be your non-default, or the other way if you wish.

When you check mail, accounts will be separated. Forgot to tell you, you will need to go to TOOLS and set up your Message Rules to put B into the B folder.

You can use many email accounts this way. Create more folders under the INBOX and make message rules for each account.

    Hi-Ramona and All,
Long time no posts!! That's good!!
However, I'm trying to import/use two email accts. into TB...The above post I tried but didn't work...Was that JUST for WM? It just created a folder in the inbox..Under tools,I don't see msg. rules?? Just filters...

I tried building a profile for the email acct. STILL didn't work?
ISP sbcglobal.net..I use the 2nd email on the web..it works OK there, but I thought it would be easier to import into TB?
TB current version - xp home.
    Thanks / John in Dallas.

    tb and multiple accts.

    Hi-Westside,
Thanks for the reply, though I "d sure like to know how you have ((8)) email accts. in ONE profile?
I found nothing in TB's faqs...they simply don't address this issue, why?
I tried to find your post or tutorial on the issue, but after 20 I gave up, too.
I guess it's not possible!! Seems simple but it's obviously NOT!!

    John,
the detaile info was wiped out, and had to start all over, and got disgusted about it.
Seven of my accounts are from the same ISP, i.e. Cox, five of mine, and two my wife's.
In addition I received Yahoo mail (it is a trick I learned).
I will do my best in telling you how to set up multiple accounts. This time I will not open Thunderbird to double check the settings. I will correct them as I go.
Again, I must assume that you are talking about TB3.0.4. Extremely annoying, but possible. I did it, believe me!
Go to Tools|Accounts Settings|Accounts Actions|Add Mail account| Enter name, e-mail account description, and password. Then, immediately, click on Stop,on the pop up, and select Manual Setup. Enter the correct info, the same way as done for TB2.x, in Account Setting|Account name|Server Settings. If you have never done this, you may not be able to get even a single account, but if you have one account, you can add as many as you want. As for the settings, make sure that you have the correct ones. Just do a search for sbcglobal, don't guess.
If you can't get anywhere, I will fish out some info. There is a decent description in a TB page .

I have three accounts (including one gmail and one hotmail account) in TB 3.0.4 with no problems.

    For gmail:

    Server Name: pop.gmail.com
User name: (my user name, excluding the "@gmail.com" portion)
    Port: 110 (the default value)
Security setting: none with the "Use secure authentication" box unchecked.

When I added the gmail account I went the Tools>Account settings... At the bottom on the left is a button called Account Actions. I clicked on it and added the gmail account with the above settings. That was it. I had more trouble with the Hotmail account until Microsoft changed Hotmail to allow pop3 access.

It sounds perfectly normal. A very useful program for, mainly, Webmail programs is freePOPs, secifically designed for such oddball programs. I use it, mainly for Yahoo, but also Hotmail, Excite, Myway, and others.
The set up is for pop accounts, server: localhost, port 2000. Username is, generall the entire address. One needs to download the appropriate plugin to operate an account, and the program must be in the task manager.
