Media Player converts .dat files automaticly

    I am using win98SE and have to use a DOS based music scheduling system. My question is why does Windows Media Player automaticly convert ALL my .dat files to windows media files???? Inquiring minds want to know...Thank You

    Welcome to the boards. Have you tried to right click on the .dat file......and choose to open with....and reassociate the program you want to open them with?
