    hello guys,

i have what i think is a stupid problem, but i cant seem to find an answer online.

my PC is specified in profile.
Audio is on board: Realtek High Definition audio.

the HDMI on the PC is on my nVIDIA 9600 GT so idk how its supposed to "carry" the audio.

I tried pluging in the audio out from PC (one for speakers and headphones) to the TV audio (there is one for PCs) no result.

there is a VGA in on the TV would it be better to plug the TV as i would a monitor? would the picture quality be the same? (haven't tried it cause i need to find a longer VGA cable)

    the TV is a samsung LA40B530 http://www.samsung.com/au/consumer/.../LA40B530P7FXXY/index.idx?pagetype=prd_detail

(can't find my camera, i hope you guys can help me out, ill add picture of the back of PC and TV when i can)

(as far as i can tell best solution would be to get a new audio card, i dont mind doing that if it is a good solution)

ty for any help you can provide

The HDMI on the graphics card probably doesn't carry audio. Check the graphics card's manual. HDMI on a motherboard does.

Edit: There seems to be ifs and buts, like if you want separate audio, you might need to connect the HDMI to Jack 1. There are several settings on the TV for audio input.

It sounds like you are trying to use the TV as a second monitor. Do you want the audio to come out of the TV speakers? You don't have separate speakers?

I can't tell what type of connection the PC/DVI Audio In is. (Edit: Looks like Toslink.) If it is digital (S/PDIF or Toslink) and you are using the correct cable, you need to go into the Realtek HD Audio Manager and change the output from Speakers to Digital.

If you are happy using analogue (you won't get high quality out of 2 X 10Watt speakers), you should just need 3.5 stereo minijack to the audio Component In.

PS If you using a S/PDIF output on the PC, you might need to check it is enabled in the BIOS.

    ty Matt for the support,

yes trying to use the TV as a second monitor, for the time being id settle for the TV speakers (eventually i might get decent speakers for the TV and use them)

im not using SPDIF only audio out from PC (standard audio output used for speakers or head phones), so im thinking here is my error since i was not expecting sound from the Video card, ill check my graphics card documentation and fill you in.

My video card has 3 connectors:
    - DVI (one i use for my regular monitor)
    - HDMI (one im trying to use to connect the TV)
    - TV out (not using at all.)

im using the HDMI from the VGA and connecting it to the HDMI2from the back of the TV (other one on the back is HDMI/DVI)

Edit: so i take it i should be using SPDIF to connect the audio to the TV right?

I wouldn't spend a lot of money trying to connect to the TV speakers.

Do you have any headphones so that you could check you are at least getting output from the PC audio?

Did you read this section in the TV manual?
Me, I would just use the VGA and analogue audio for the moment if I couldn't get the HDMI working and save any money for the speakers.
