My webbook running Windows XP is very slow, I think just because there are too many service packs in Windows XP. If I upgrade to Windows 7, say Home Premium edition, will performance improve?

Windows 7 advisor says the resources are enough 9subject to further investigation on 1 driver) but before I take the plunge, I was wondering what others had found.

I have 1 gig of RAM and a 1.6 ghz processor. I don't think I have the slots to increase the Ram

Fast and slow are rather subjective :)

My Eee PC 1005HA with 1.6 GHz Intel Atom and 1 Gb RAM, originally supplied with XP Home is running Windows 7 Home Premium adequately - fast enough for my use anyway.

I intend to increase the RAM to 2 Gb - the max possible, soon, but this will be at the expense of dumping the 1 Gb already installed.

NB - both written prior to the availibility of 7 RTM.

I would do a clean install of XP instead.

    I did upgrade.

Speeded it up but not as much as I would have liked. Need another 1 gig of RAM but the limit for this particular model is 1 gig

Also ran into problems with the display driver and I am still trying to find a better one.

The display is OK but it won't allow the Sleep function, only Hibernate. Still looking for a better driver.
