Resolved Editing an mpeg file

I have an mpeg movie file that is 8:45 long. I need about a minute and a half from in the middle of it for a project I'm working on for my daughter's high school graduation party. I need it to go along with a bunch of other mpeg files that are already the correct length. The files are clips from her numerous theatrical performances over the years. I'm going to burn them on a dvd to play in the background on the tv during her party. I've been pulling my hair out all evening because this seems like something I should be able to figure out but I can't. Any assistance will be appreciated.
