    Hi all,

I ran a Secunia Vulnerability Test and it came back with only 4 "insecure" items.

Unfortunately two of them were for Java (1.5 and 1.6). I tried Add\Remove Programs and I got the error, "Error applying transforms" (which I have no idea what the heck that is). And when I did a Search, there were 93 listings for Java, and in the Registry I hit the F3 key over 200 times(!) and never made it out of HKCR\CLSID searching for Java before I gave up.

I ran CCleaner, EZClean, JV16 Power tools, JavaRa, and the M$ Uninstaller Utility. The only thing I noticed is that when I did another Search for Java, there were only 78 listings instead of 93.

Ideally I'd like to uninstall everything Java related and start anew "” without having to hit "F3, Delete, OK ", who-knows-how-many thousands of times to do it.

There is no need to completely clean the registry of Java entries. Just install the newest Java using the offline download then run JavaRa to clean up remnants.

    Hi Whiskeyman,

I did that — that's why the "count" went down from 93 to 78; and still with multiple listings everywhere.

Man, is this ever an invasive app. No matter where you look — there it is. I swear, if I didn't know better I'd be thinking the Government wrote this.

You must delight in hard work :)

Did you use the Registry Finder applet in JV16Power Tools for 'java'? Had you done so you could have removed all entries - if indeed that is wise, but you can back up first - with a couple of mouse clicks!

Running a search on my box with both 32 bit & 64 bit versions of Java installed showed 4400 entries.

    Must rival Norton :D

    Hi Pete,
Nope! It takes me away from the more important things in life; such as lying in a hammock drinking beer whilst removing the battery from my watch and meticulously charting the movement of the hour hand. :p

Also, when I did the JV16 Reg Search, it only turned up 12 entries "” yet, as I said, I hit F3 over 200 times in the registry before I gave up. Now, however, after all the brain damage I went through, there's only 6 entries in JV16.
!!!!!!!!!! Ridiculous! No wonder so many people turn it off. What the heck was Sun thinking?

Anyway, on a high note: I finally got all my Java, Flash Player and ShockWave woes fixed. A Secunia scan gave me a clean bill of health; although, it took most of the day to dope it out. Totally ridiculous.
