I have cut and pasted academic documents and even some from Wikipedia, from the internet into Word, some of which are are very lengthy and which contain numerous references by way of footnotes.

I am trying to tidy up these documents and would like to know if there is a labour saving way in Word 2007 or above to remove all the footnotes without having to delete each one individually.

I am not embarking on an exercise in plagiarism, I keep these documents purely for my own information.

    Does anyone have any ideas?

    Thank you

Thanks Pete, sorry about the wrong forum. Can you please though help with one thing about which I'm sure I'm being very dumb; the instructions tell me to use find/replace and insert 2 symbols, the second is an 'f' obviously, but I can't make out the the symbol before it. It is a roof shaped symbol but I can't find it in my keyboard, can you please help (thanks for your patience)

Actually Pete, I thought that was the answer but it isn't. That article and others like it refer to a Word document that has been referenced, but it won't help, for example with a Wiki cut and paste. I suspect that's because Word isn't recognizing the footnotes in the C&P.
Anyway, at least I learned how to remove all the footnotes from my own tedious papers!
    Thanks.
