I performed a search on this problem, and from what I read, it seems I have a failed drive, but not sure.

Newish Toshiba Satellite will read all my old CDs and DVDs.

When I insert blank CD-R to copy file, I get window

"D:/ Is not accessible. Incorrect function. "

It seems the system does not recognize the drive when blank disk is inserted, as the drive does not appear when I select "Send to," but reads all of the Cds I feed it.

How can it read CD with data but then say not accessible for new Cd?

New CD is blank and has no file system on it.

I agree with markp62, there is nothing to read on a blank/mt disc. you will get differing info from Windows Explorer or Nero or whatever software you ask to open your CD drive. Neil.;)

    CD/DVD Drive Problem

I understand the disk is blank. The system will not interact with the drive and shows the message as noted in original query and does nada.

I have three other computers. All will allow me to send files to disk or copy files to disk. You know the drill.

Never ever received message denying access or saying disk cannot be accessed.

    RESOLVED CD-R Problem

Yes. You solved my little problem.

Thanks. Daughter was using to copy music, and, not being conversant, I had no clue.

Thanks for help. I guess I should have thought to go into it further.

Sorry for too basic ignorance, but it may help others who are not music down-loaders like myself.
