My address book was hacked and is being used by someone else.
I use BBC for all mail. The hacker sent balnket mail titled "Happy Memorial Day" and there was a link to the site ***Link Remove by Site Staff***.
How can I keep my account secure and whom else can I notify about the problem?
I am using windows firewall and AVG 9.0 (free edition)-Windows 7
    Thank you,
    GJ

    Welcome to WindowsBBS;)

I removed the link since it doesn't matter etc.

Did you change the password to your email account as soon as you noticed this problem?

How do you know your address book was hacked?

Most of the time it only appears that way. For example, let's say you send a message to John Doe. John adds you to his address book. John then gets an virus that harvests email addresses on his computer. The virus then sends out spam using varying addresses as the sender. Someone receives a message that appears to have been sent by you, but actually it was sent by a virus on someone else's computer.
