    Hello,
My friend has problems with her 3 boys staying up all night online,
I wondered if there was a way of limiting the hours a particular pc on a network can be online.
One problem is that the wireless router is in one of the boys bedrooms, as her bedroom has a bad wireless reception.
I've heard of a program called "broadband lock internet security "
has anyone used this? and would it suit her needs?
    any help greatly appreciated

    thank you

The router can be password protected so no need to worry about location. Also it should have the ability to restrict access times for various MAC addresses.

Basically using the wireless routers built in security should be enough for purpose.

What model router does your friend have?

The current issue of Computer Shopper (July would you believe) has a copy of Brightfilter Parental Control 2009 and an upgrade offer - webfiltering software which is claimed to be used in 10,000 UK schools.
Check it out - I have no experience of this or similar software - my kids are the wrong side of 35 :)

Some routers have the ability to lockout internet access but allow LAN access so that kids can still printout their homework late into the evening. If all else fails take the mouse for the computer.

IPCop is nice if you want a small home project as a router. I use it and works well
