    Hi,

In good faith, my daughter has acquired a copy of XP Professional via Ebay. It is marked as applicable to a New PC Only and was shipped with a chip of some kind!?

    What exactly does this mean?

o What is the definition of new - can one instal on an existing PC?

o If so - does that mean that the hard drive has to be re formatted or will it co reside with Windows 98?

o Will MS accept the product?

Is there anything else we should know?

I do hope this is not a dud?

    Thanks and Regards

I agree - call Microsoft and explain. Usually that OEM version is only available with hardware - so hopefully she bought a harddrive or something too!
