Trying to help pal who can't open MS Outlook. She recently downloaded what she thought to be a resume template from an MS site. Now there is NO access to Outlook. It says she's missing SKU011.CAB. We tried multiple ways to repair Office, from the control panel, and from Excel/Help/Detect and Repair....all to no avail.

Is this situation a candidate for the Virus forum? Thanks in advance for any assistance you can offer.

    Uninstall and reinstall it

I would take a shot at uninstalling and reinstalling Outlook (or possibly you might have to uninstall and reinstall Office). If that didn't do it I would try a system restore going back to a point when Outlook was working. Good luck, hope one of these works.

There is NO system restore point. And now MS Word wont work.

Is this post more suitable for the virus forum?

    Have you scanned for spyware?

Have you scanned for spyware? I would try that before doing anything else.

Hi pilotgal8, If you Google SKU011.CAB. missing, there are a couple of fixes shown there which you could try. Others have fixed there problem with it.
Let's know if you have any success. Cheers Neil.

Tried the solution to the probelm where you dod regedit and change the CDcache from 2 to 0. When opening MS Outlook I no longer get the SKU001.CAB error, but instead of opening directly I get a window titled MS Office Pro Edition 2003
Please wait wile Win configures MS Office Pro 2003, which doesn't seem to finish.

    What now?

pilotgal8, what did your friend download from MS? Did it include an option to try MS Office 2007?
Quite a large number of users have had this problem and fixed it with the Regedit value change.
Can you go to Add/Remove in Control Panel and have a look at the newest download for Office.
A couple found that uninstalling the recent download from MS cleared the problem. Please follow the info supplied as it has worked. Backup your Registry before you make any changes. Neil.

The problem seemed to occur when a resue template was downloaded. There was no registry checkpoint before this, so I may have to uninstall Office and reinstall. I've tried all 4 ways to upgrade/repair Office, all to avail.
