Viewers will have noticed a few post by me about Office 2010 beta which I downloaded a couple of days ago, and some problems with the mail function in Outlook.

I wasn't surprised to find some glitches with a beta version, I'm guessing that beta versions are released to test them and discover any problem.

Yesterday, when I opened Outlook, as it was checking for incoming mail and the status bar was showing about 50%, I would get a send/receive error message 0x8004702a. I would then manually click send/receive and would work OK.

Googling this information I found that many others are getting the same thing. But I couldn't find any helpful answers other than to re-install.

I don't have a definitive, but possibly a circumstantial answer in the respect that this problem was only occurring when another Office component, One Note, was running in the background with it's icon showing in the taskbar.

Now it's working fine; but nevertheless I'd be interested to hear from others who may have had this problem and resolved it in a different way.

As I said I know this is a beta version and glitches are to be expected and for what it's worth I really like Office 2010 and I am looking forward to it appearing later in the year when the full version is released.

That's in the U.S. Steve, we have to wait. First the Business version and then then Home & Student version maybe in the Autumn.
