A mystery disk drive, shown as "Local disk (Q;) ", has suddenly appeared in my control panel under Hard Disk Drives
In properties it is shown as RAW file system.
If I try to open it I am told it is not accessible.
It doesn't appear to be doing anything or causing any harm, or is this the end of my computer as I know it!?

When you look in Diskmgmt.msc what does it say about the drive? Is it a partition on one of your other drives?

Good observation about the file system.
Did you recently install some digital camera software or anything else?

When I open Control Panel it's under Hard Disk Drives beside my C:/ drive.
Ephemarial, I only noticed it after I installed Office 2010 beta. No cameras or anything like that.

dropping out - not familiar with Office 2010 - but my guess is - from the file format - it's a virtual drive installed by some software.

Wouldn't think Office 2010 would do that.
    Hopefully Steve can clarify.

I don't know if it's concerned with Office 2010, but that's the only substantial change to the computer.

    Pardon me for butting in,
I have a canon MP620B and it shows in my Computer under removable drive.
Took me a while to find out it was my printer.
Why this thing shows up as a drive, I have no idea.
Do you have a cannon printer?
