screensaver won't activate

    Why won't my screensaver turn on? I can change it to something different, but it still won't activate.

    I forgot to mention that the laptop won't power down, in the auto shut down mode, either. I checked the settings and they are good.

    I don't know if all of this is related to the screensaver not turning on though.

    What exactly do you mean by that? Sleep or hibernate?

    Do you have free space on your hard drive in excess of the installed RAM?

    Have you tried turning off hibernation, rebooting and re-enabling it?

    Did this problem arise after addind new hardware or software?
