hard disk is divided into two partitions C and D. C partition has 30GB and D partition has 194GB a total of 224GB. But my hard disk has 320GB and I wondering where is other 100GB. Where is the problem? And how can I fix it?

    Welcome to WindowsBBS :)

Once formatted NTFS a 320 Gb drive has a capacity of 298 Gb - the difference represents the space taken up by the file system.

You are seeing 224 Gb - the 'missing' space equates to 74 Gb.

How are you determining the capacity of each drive?

Look in Disk Management - Start > Run > type in diskmgmt.msc > Enter

The available capacity of the whole drive will be shown under Disk 0 in the LH column, that of individual partitions in the main window.

How many partitions do you see? My guess is that you have a hidden Recovery Partition and maybe a much smaller diagnostic partition, also hidden, neither of which will show in Windows Explorer.

What is the size of the unallocated space? Is this at the end of the drive?

You can make a further partition in the unallocated space by right clicking on it and selecting Create Partition.

The size is 74GB. Yes is at the end of the drive. Will I lose data on any partition if I create a new partition.

Creating a new partition in the Unallocated Space will not affect the other partitions.
