Having downloaded many programs during the years, I find it perplexing when I cannot remove one from the add-remove file. I have done the registry bit, but cannot locate the program and I have downloaded (and deleted) three add-removal "scrubber" programs, but they do not recognize either of the two programs now residing in my add-remove. No folder in program files. The programs have no remove button and no size, but say "used," and "rarely ". I have searched pretty much every place else in my computer but this is all that remains of the programs which I would like just to get rid of.

Programs are "search settings 1.2.2" and "Pixiepack Codec Pack. "

    Any help is appreciated.

I’d like to know which registry "˜bit’ you have done, but have a look at this key:

To remove unwanted registry entries in Add or Remove Program for programs that have been uninstalled, go to a Run window (Windows key+R), type regedit, press Enter and in the left pane navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion.

Expand the Uninstall key (in the left pane) and scroll down to find the unwanted entry then right-click and delete it. To make sure you delete the correct entry, check the in the right pane for DisplayName, which contain the name that is listed in Add or Remove Programs. The key UninstallString contains the name of the program that is normally used to do the uninstall.

Thanks to you both for answering. I should have been more specific, as I have already gone through the registry exactly as outlined. I also had downloaded the Add/Remove Cleaner before writing. The registry does not list either of the programs (I went through the list twice) and the add/remove program does not show them either, but does list all the other programs. Thanks again.

In that case, I don't understand what your issue is and what shows up where...

I guess I just don't want them listed at all. Any other program that I have used and deleted, and there have been many over the years, went away by the normal means or at least with a little shoving. Even, on occasion, when looking at the add/remove, XP says this does not appear to be a program and should it be removed? When I say yes, it is gone. Why not these two programs? (Both, incidentally, were downloaded piggyback on other programs.) Thanks anyway.

    "Search settings 1.2.2 "
"Pixiepak Codec Pack" (came with a program called Tunebit, I think, also deleted and gone away.)

Both are in the Add/remove Program list.

    Hi Bobboyd185,

I have used this a time or two:
    http://www.sharewareconnection.com/download-add-remove-pro-from-sharecon.html

Advantage is, it will allow a backup of any changes. Please do so should you decide to use it.Watch what your doing, use extreme caution with an uninstall program with high risk possibilities. Many things in the add/remove list may not be meant to be uninstalled as separate api's but are actually "part of and built into" larger programs. If you try to uninstall or delete key values, many of the things listed in the registry, you risk a system or application throwing fits.

I think, at least in the case of search 1. what ever, it was msi installed and will be named and listed under one of those really long numbered keys in the registry. If your looking for a name that references search***, you aren't going to find it that way.

    NOT FOR BEGINNERS
This may also interest you: I use this all the time....
Scroll down to "Registry Search Tool "
    http://billsway.com/vbspage/

It's a simple tool, vbs script, that when run will scan your whole registry looking for what your interested in and list it in a txt file. You can then use the keys found to do your own exploring or edits. It's much like an F3 search in the reg but much much easier. :)

Other google hits and this board as a matter of fact often recommend "revouninstaller ", when issues such as this come up.

The TweakingToolBox software for XP has a function to remove entries in the Add/Remove list where it cannot find the installed software. I just checked it on my PC. Here is the link: Click Here

    Hi again, bobboyd185
Are you sure you are not infected with such?

    To Broni,
    Hmmmmmm.......search settings 1.2.2
    http://www.google.com/search?num=50...h+settings+1.2.2"&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=
    Malware adware???????
    Broni what do you think?
How ironic and sad for you to come out of the backroom for a breath of fresh air only to find you may be addressing yet another critter infection.

By the way, here's a big kiss and hug for all you do in the virus forum.
    XO

    Thank you :)

    Hahaha....

    Yes, that's a malicious program.

    @bobboyd185

    Download OTL to your Desktop.

    * Double click on the icon to run it. Make sure all other windows are closed and to let it run uninterrupted.
    * Under the Custom Scan box paste this in:

    netsvcs
    %SYSTEMDRIVE%\*.exe
    /md5start
    eventlog.dll
    scecli.dll
    netlogon.dll
    cngaudit.dll
    sceclt.dll
    ntelogon.dll
    logevent.dll
    iaStor.sys
    nvstor.sys
    atapi.sys
    IdeChnDr.sys
    viasraid.sys
    AGP440.sys
    vaxscsi.sys
    nvatabus.sys
    viamraid.sys
    nvata.sys
    nvgts.sys
    iastorv.sys
    ViPrt.sys
    eNetHook.dll
    ahcix86.sys
    KR10N.sys
    nvstor32.sys
    /md5stop
    %systemroot%\*. /mp /s
    %systemroot%\system32\*.dll /lockedfiles
    %systemroot%\Tasks\*.job /lockedfiles
    %systemroot%\system32\drivers\*.sys /lockedfiles
    %systemroot%\System32\config\*.sav
    CREATERESTOREPOINT

    * Click the Quick Scan button. Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan wont take long.
    • When the scan completes, it will open two notepad windows: OTL.txt and Extras.txt. These are saved in the same location as OTL.
    • Please copy (Edit->Select All, Edit->Copy) the contents of these files, one at a time, and post them back here.

Well, I have had fun with this, but still have "the Pixie-freakin'-Pack" still there. Tried all the remove programs for Add/Remove - none of them recognized it was there. Did the Broni thing, and got a lot of error parameters 75b6bf7c 4 and repeated twice, and it would not go beyond there. Did a system restore, thinking that would help -- it didn't, gave me another program the same way, but I managed to get rid of both of the others. Spend about two hours on this. Really thank y'all for coming up with suggestions. Am going to check the website, if any, for this beast. Best to y'all.

Are you saying, that you're not able to run OTL?

Thanks again. I was able to run OTL, did exactly what you said, got a "exception processing message C000013, parameters 75b6bf7c 4; then that number repeated twice ".
Not wanting to get in any more trouble, I then decided to reinstall "Tunebite," after researching over a half hour on my Pixie program, which I learned came unbidden on the coattails of Tunebite; and then deleted both programs, which worked. I believe that my windows/installer or whatever program it is, is "corrupt" as it does not uninstall properly. Either that or the programs they're generating now just are more "sticky." Again, thanks for answering.
