Cannot save webpage

Two problems I cannot understand.

#1) Sometimes I cannot save a webpage to my HD, I get this mesage "Web page cannot be saved ".

#2) When I call for a web page I get this mesage: "To display this web page correctly, you need to download and install the following components: Java virtual machine ".
I think I downloaded this program sometime ago and as far as I can remember my machine wouldn't accept by telling me that it wasn't needed. Does anyone know what's going on with these two problems"

As a start, go to windows updates, and ensure that you have all your critical updates downloaded?
