I assign different sounds to various options on my Win 7 laptop, such as the arrival of a new message or logging on and off of Windows.

Originally, I assigned the sounds to the different operations and saved the theme as Pats. But after a certain period of time, I check and the sounds have reverted to one of Windows 7 themes using those mundane sounds supplied by Microsoft.

Any ideas how to keep this from happening?

    Thanks.

    Hi Vegaspat,

A minor nuisance that also happens to me from time. I figure, any change in a theme set, either wallpaper, color, font size or display resolution often reverts the sound scheme that the theme you are using has/had to the original themes set.

I found this but have not tried it. The risk is yours but I would consider this is a low to no risk experiment:

Other than the above, occasional resetting may be the way to go.

Thanks. I will print that off and save it until it happens again.

In the meantime I'll be a little more alert as to what could cause this to happen.

I JUST restored my Vista Desktop to its original state and that's been enough for me right now. <G>

    Thanks.

I'm so sorry for any misunderstanding.

I have a desktop with Vista and that's the one I'm dealing with and the one I set back to its original state.

I recently bought a laptop with Win 7 installed. I actually like Windows7 and the only problem I have had was this sound issue. I was still learning about Vista and now I have two PC's and trying to learn about both of the systems.
