I have an HP Media Center PC m7334n that recently blue screened. I reinstalled windows but now Network Connections does not list the wireless connection and there is no wireless adapter in Device Manager. I've googled and followed up several different possibilities but to no avail, including:

    - updating drivers from HP's site
    - making sure the Wireless Zero service is running
    - making sure windows is updated (it's currently downloading service pack 3, but the adapter was working before SP3 last time, so I don't think that'll have an effect).

Has anyone seen this before and have any other ideas about what I might be able to do?

    Thanks,
    James

    Hey James,
It seems the wireless adapter hardware is gone bad! The blue screen could explain this, i understand your machine is a desktop pc so a wireless adapter had to be added after purchase (i stand to be corrected) . These are the steps you should at least have done before doing the software updates and fixes.
    (a) Re-insert the wireless adapter on to the motherboard.
    (b) Try using a different expansion slot or other ports
    (c) Check if there is an option in the BIOS that allows you to activate or deactivate Wireless devices.
    (d) Resetting the CMOS battery so that all the information on the BIOS about the hardware of your PC is revert to default factory settings.
When your have done all this, let me know the outcome, if you'll be able to see your wireless adapter present in the list of hardware under device manager.

    The computers specifications
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...71&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=1821850&lang=en
only lists an infrared remote control, no wireless adapter, so a wireless adapter would be made/supplied by some other manufacturer.

If you take the adapter out of it's slot, as suggested, note down all the information on it. You could find the drivers by doing a websearch for the make and model of the adapter.

You might get some information by going to Control Panel -> Add New Hardware, see if the wizard detects it, you probably won't have the drivers to install, but take note of the name of the controller if it is shown.

I think you will need to track down the drivers for it.

    Matt

Yeah mattman that's right, what he needs to do is to get the wireless adapters' name and model number, you will get the drivers you need there and offcourse, choose the one for your OS.
Thanks, i might have forgotten this critical point, drivers download.

Thanks everyone! The wireless adapter shipped with the computer, but for some reason wasn't on the HP page for my unit. But opening it up and getting the part number did the trick.
