outlook express 6.no isp email

i have just had new broadband service installed and the provider does not have it's own email, they just recommend using gmail, yahoo, or the like.
i have never come across this, any provider i have ever had (time warner, comcast, verizon, emabarq) have always provided an email addy to load in the POP and SMTP servers in outlook express.
Is there a way for me to still use OE or another stand alone email service ?
i installed (then uninstalled) incredimail and eudora but both want the address from the POP and SMTP to function.
I tried using my windows live and gmail addy's. i didn't expect it to work and it didn't.
any suggestions ?

I currently use two email providers, lavabit, free for a small account or larger with advertising or costs. The other is our very own WindowsBBS

Be sure that you need a lifetime subscription for POP3/SMTP/IMAP access though (what you need), the yearly/2 yearly subscription only offers a forwarding service.
