I'm have a factory installed XP OS (Dell Dimension 4300S) that I've run for about 10 months. I just recently downloaded the Service Pack 1 for XP. Since the download, the hibernation function isn't working like before. (I've checked the settings and they seem to be OK.) If I set the Power Management to "hibernate" after 45 minutes .... the computer shuts down after 45 minutes. In order to get it going again ... I have to push the start button on the CPU and wait for it to reload Windows. This takes about 10 - 15 seconds. (Previously, I just had to move the mouse and the took me right to the Start page with only a few seconds delay.)

I don't know if installing the Service Pack caused this change .... but something did. I'm thinking of doing a "System Restore" to see if I can get it back like it was a few days ago.

Any comments or suggestions?? Thanks in advance.

    :)
Thanks for the reference. I read the articles and didn't see anything that seemed to correspond to my situation - but I did reset the time to 30 minutes from 45 - and for some reason (maybe not just because of this) - the hibernation is now working as it previously did. Strange!

Thanks again for the help !!!!
