It is not Microsofts java that I have a problem with. I downloaded Suns java, the latest versions, and have tried to uninstall them through add/remove. They go part way through the uninstall process and quit. They will not uninstall. I even redownloaded the latest version, tried to install it, and it informed me that I already had it installed and gave me the option to uninstall it. I say OK and it goes through the motions but doesn't uninstall anything. So I can't remove it or install it.

I see from your new post (edit note: just removed his other post Alice) that you were able to uninstall Sun's Java by "going to safe mode, removing through add/remove and the running RegCleaner" .

For the record, (in case it helps someone else) if you just wanted to switch from using Sun's Java to The Microsoft VM and didn't mind leaving Sun's Java installed:

UNchecking Microsoft Internet Explorer in the Java Plugin control panel, browser tab turns off Sun's Java in IE and allows the Microsoft VM to be used - see http://java.sun.com/getjava/default.html for screenshots.

    (contents of the now-deleted post)
I removed Sun's Java by going to safe mode, removing through add/remove and the running RegCleaner. Then I went to Windows update and downloaded the patch for JVM. Now pages that used to shut my browser off, run correctly. :D  :D
