    HI all,

I have purchased a Dell Laptop with XP Pro OS on it, I have a copy (legal) of the Office 97 SBE. I installed it today and I am getting an error and app. crash in Excel 97 when I try and access the options applet. Otherwise it works. Does anyone know if the Office 97 will run under XP Pro OS? Any fixes/regedits????

I installed XP Office Pro just to see what it looked like, and I uninstalled it before activation was necessary. I believe it may have something to do with the activation of XP Office Pro, or something the uninstall of XP Office left behind.

    Any help will be appreciated.

I can install my 2k SP3 OS if that will help. I think Office 97 runs OK under 2k

    thanks,

    desertbluesman

You might try putting a shortcut to excel on the desktop and then setting it to run in 2K compatibility mode (or 98 should work too).

    Thanks,
I am a little confused, setting "what" in Excel to run in 2k compatibility mode? Where and how is that done?
    Thanks for your reply
