I have spent some time cleaning my existing OS in preparation for Win 7.
Now that I have Win 7 installed and is up and runnning why does it log off after I walk away from it for 20-30minutes?
I come back to the computer and have to enter password again. Is there a quick fix for an ol timer like me?

    Hi borntogolf,

Let's check to see if you have a screensaver logon:

    startmenu>search line>type password

when list comes up choose "set screensaver password "

when option box pops up uncheck the option "on resume display logon "

    -----------------
If the above isn't it, in the list using the startmenu>search>type "password "

There will be a line entitled Power Options: "require a password when computer wakes "

    click it
    >put a tick in "don't require password on wakeup "

    Hi again born2golf,

The above is just one way to change/check or reset these options, and may be dependent upon how you have the special search/find/run line set, uac security and user privileges set.

If the above routes don't work for you we may have to try a more complicated route.

    --------------
That being said and realizing you are new to windows 7, allow me to pass along 2 links to sites I have found most useful. Our site being among these of course. Here they are:

Windows 7 is a great operating system but may have a learning curve. There is a lot to explore. I hope you enjoy it. :)

Hope I catch you before you run away,

Can you edit your post to change the title of the topic to a more specific post title, such as "need to disable password ", or similar. This makes for a "Happy Administration" and is board requirement/request.

Also Can you please mark this as resolved?

    See:
If you receive an answer/solution to your question/problem, don't forget to mark your 'thread' as 'Solved'.
For more information read the User Guide:

Your most welcome and thanks for the update.
