I am running an HP, model p610t with Windows Vistal, SP1. I have a Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme sound card.

I am using the Line-in jack to patch in sound from a remote player. If I right-click on the speaker icon in the tray and click "recording Devices ", the Line-in bargraph shows a varing sound level, however I get no sound out of the speakers.

Playing sounds otherwise, including from a CD with Windows Media Player wroks fine.

    Any ideas??

Look in Control Panel for a Creative icon. Unfortunately I don't have any Creative sound cards installed at the moment so I can't guide you.

Do you have the installation disk for the card (or the instruction manual)? The manual/s should be included on the disk or you could download it/them from the Creative website.

You probably need to change the "source" to the Line-in or reset the output for Line-in (like digital or analog speakers).

    Here is the basic troubleshooting

They have forums, read the sticky posts first

Check in your volume control (double click on the speaker icon in the tray) and make sure the line in isn't muted there.
