Sometimes I need a print in a larger size of an image whose original dimensions are small (say something "cropped" from a larger image).
I can obviously enlarge the original on the screen using a choice of tools, but no one allows me to print the image in the larger size.
I suspect it is a very easy and trivial trick, but I'm not able to find it. May you
    help? Thank You , Paolo.

Irfanview (no spyware and free) will do it for you. You can print it any size you want using the custom option. Select whether you want to use centimeters or inches at the bottom left of the print dialog and then enter the dimensions you want the pic to be on the paper.

Or, you can just use Paint to do it. In the print dialog, look at the "scaling" options at the bottom right. Play around with it until the preview looks the way you want it to. Irfanview gives you a bit more control over things but Paint will get it done if you don't want to download anything.
