I RECENTLY BOUGHT SOME WINDOWS XP PROFESSIONAL OEM SOFTWARE FROM RETAILERS IN LAGOS. AFTER INSTALLATION ON SOME KLONE pc I ASSEMBLED, THE COPIES WERE SUCCESSFULLY ACTIVATED AND REGISTER ON LINE. BUT FEW HOURS LATER THE os WAS AUTOMATICALLY UPDATED ON LINE.AFTER INSTALLING THE UPDATES THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION WERE DISPLAYED
'You may be a victim of software counterfeiting. This copy of windows did not pass genuine windows validatioN'
"the product key found on this computer was not assigned by microsoft ".
I have bought more than 15 copies from the same retailler and never had this problem. i dont have reason to doubt. DOES ANY ONE KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON

    No need to shout ;)

Contact Microsoft and ask them to resolve the problem.

There are a bunch of these being sold all over the world. They are actually VLK versions with keys known to Microsoft. You can tell these are not legit due to the CD has a label on it. If you place the CD in your optical drive and Open it to view the files you will see a couple of non-MS .ini files. These files were created with nLite which allow an older WGA crack to load plus a couple of other tweaks.

I have seen them sold on ebay and craigslist for anywhere from $25 to $45. They may be originating from China.
