Does anyone know a sure fire way to eliminate these "help bubbles" that pop up when the cursor hovers over an icon etc ?

    Hi HibbieBoy
TweakUI, will allow you to turn off the bubble tips, I think. Or editting the registry?

If you have Pro, Run: gpedit.msc

    Navigate to:

Local Computer Policy\User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Start Menu and Taskbar

and configure the "Remove balloon tips on Start Menu items" policy.
