    This is what I get.

I just downloaded the newest Thunderbird. It gives me an error message when I got to send a message.

Where do I find this, to uncheck it?

    windows xp sp3

    Sending of message failed.
An error occurred sending mail: Unable to authenticate to SMTP server smtp.west.cox.net. It does not support authentication (SMTP-AUTH) but you have chosen to use authentication. Uncheck 'Use name and password' for that server or contact your service provider.

    Thanks,
    Bob

Hi Bob, in TB click on Tools>Account Settings>then click on Outgoing Server under "Local Folders ". In the SMTP Server box that comes up uncheck the "Use name and password" box under Security and Authentication.

I had the same problem and it took forever to find the solution. Don't know why it is hidden away so effectively.

I followed your instructions and it didn't bring me to the SMTP box.

It goes to an out going box, but nothing to check.

    I don't get it!

Just for your information, I have smtp.central (or.east).cox.net. Authentication has, never, been necessary, but that crazy TB3.x like to pick some incorrect or non-existent servers. So, I have had to make my own selections.

I thought I had this mail thing fixed. But, I can print in email, but I can't print on a web page. I have another laptop and it's prints just fine. No problems. Any idea's?
    Thanks,
    Bob

This is the message I get. I'm printing wireless on both laptops.

    "Printer Not responding!
    1. Make sure printer is turned on
    2. Make sure the USB cable is connected to the printer and computer.
    3. Make sue the printer queue is online.

You can print from Thunderbird, i.e. from Mail, but a web page would not be accessible in Thunderbird, but, rather in a browser.
If the browser is Firefox, take a look at Firefox printing issues .
