Before I even get into my problem, is this forum appropriate for a question about PrintMaster? And if not, can anyone direct me to some help, please?

Ok, here goes. I've created a calendar with 100 scanned photos on it. So far so good. They look great on the screen. However, when I print a page on my HP Deskjet 692C, the skin colors are all too red. I can adjust the skin color, print, adjust again, print, adjust again, print, until I get that one photo to look ok when it's printed --- but for 100 photos?

I've always had this problem printing my photos on this printer with this program. Any suggestions?

    Good Morning.

What do you have for a Printer ?

I think we may be looking at a combination of things here,

If this is he same machine that was referred to in " low on diskspace " everything may well be related.

Windows ME, only 96meg of RAM, Heavy Duty software etc.

My first suspect would be Printer Drivers either not installed properly or wrong ones for both the printer and/or the OS. ( they must match )

Also the low disk space problem * MAY * have damaged some parts of the the system files.

Removing some programs * MAY * have removed more than just their files.

My first suggestion would be to make sure you have the proper drivers for the printer AND the version of Windows you have ( I believe it is ME )

Remove the printer from the system and re-install the drivers.

My next suggestion gets expensive. ( and provides a good excuse for a new machine ) Get a new machine with either Win98 SE or XP. ( maybe even 2K ) If you were to buy a new machiine it would probably have XP on it anyway. Unles you were to build your own.

Also as a suggestion only. I would run without System restore activated. I say this because if the OS should happen to be messed up it would be useless anyway til you can get the system back into shape

System Restore is nothing but a Fancy name for BACKUP. And a backup is only as good as the system it backed up. Corrupted system, corrupted backup.

Well, good morning to you, too, BillyBob, and thank you for taking the time to consider what's going on here. Yes, this is the same "low disk space" machine."

My printer is HP Deskjet 692C. Last night I downloaded new drivers, but when I was told to uninstall my printer, I stopped the process, being a little afraid to do that. I do have the floppies for reinstalling it, so perhaps I shouldn't be afraid to try it. Perhaps after a cup of coffee. Or, I may just buy a new printer when I buy the new computer.

I have deactivated system restore, as Daisy suggested, to free up some more disk space. I have 1 GB free now, but of course I have no word processing, no spread sheet, no games, etc.

    Thanks, again.

Well, I was sure I had the floppy for reinstalling the software for my printer, but I don't. Guess I'm getting a new printer, so I'll start researching that today.

If you have floppys to install the priinter I would venture a guess ( a wild one ) that may be the problem ( or part of it ), The drivers may be too old to work with ME.

I would continue with the un-install, restart the machine and then install the new drivers ( I take are meant for ME ) should reinstall everything.

Normally HP downloads contain all that is needed to re-install.

Not removing the old before installing the new can cause problems for most hardware.

BTW. The priner * should * be OK if the right drivers are used.

And glad to read that you left System Restore deactivated.

BillyBob, when you say "uninstall," do you mean literally to go to Add/Remove and remove the printer? Appropriate for Halloween: Scary!

    Yes to all.

If you don't the new may not install properly.

But I believe that only removes the software which is actuall what you want to do.

But when you restart Windows and if it finds the printer and wants to install drivers just say " No thank You " and then run the new downloaded file.

I have to ask one more question, BillyBob:
In my printers window, I showed 2 icons for my 692 printer. After removing my printer with the Add/Remove, there is still one icon left and I am able to print without having to install the new drivers that I downloaded yesterday. The Add/Remove program does not show any printer.

    Now what???

Ask away and will do my best to have an answer.

If it prints as it should I would just leave it.

Does it print the colors properly ?

If it shows nothing in the add/remove the printer is more than likely using the Windows default drivers.

Sometimes they work well and sometimes they don't.

Also when you had two shown which ones was the defult ?

You could also install the new software and you would probably have two printers shown again and then choose as default which every one works best.

    Hi BillyBob,

System Restore enables one to go back to a point where problems are non existent. To disable would wipe out all previously saved good points. Not necessary to disable (barring a space problem), just be aware of the date of the good points.

Ok, I have my printer going again, but I'm having new problems now with the same program. My PrintMaster file is 79.2 MG. It takes 3-4 minutes for PM to bring it up. Yes, I've defragged and wiped out my Temp files. I'm getting that new computer sooner than I thought, but meanwhile, does anyone know why I'm having such slow response time?
