I need to know if there is a way to find what IP address is used with a specific MAC address.
I know what the MAC address is but not the IP. Is there a method or a pgm I need to find out.
    Help me.
    Thanks.

If the PC is on the same subnet as you are - a couple of things you can try.

    start~run~cmd (if NT4/2K/XP) or start~run~command for 9X and

    arp -a

If you are lucky you will have an entry for this machine in your arp table and it will show up paired with the ip address. Also a handy command if you have an IP and need a MAC because you can specify the IP. Unfortunately, you can't specify a MAC and get back anything.

If you have a Nix PC handy, I think they will do rarp (reverse arp) where you may be able to specify the MAC and get an IP returned.

Is the IP address being given out my DHCP ?

If so its a simple task to get the info

If its static then you really should have a DB of these things as it'll come back and bite you in the long run

If you're running the WINS service you could look in the WINS db for the MAC address and see what IP address corresponds to it.
