I recently set up a 'limited' account for my better half as she only uses Word, and there is an oddity.

In her account, entering Word is OK, but having opened a file a window immediately pops up titled MS Works, containing nothing but a ! in a triangle and an OK button. Clicking the OK brings up a larger window, again MS Works, with the same ! in a triangle and an OK button, and the message 'Works cannot complete the task. Try retarting Windows or reinstalling Works'. Clicking the OK causes the window to disappear and everything proceeds exactly as normal with no further oddities.

What do these windows mean (if anything!) and how can I get rid of them?

Sounds to me like her account may not have all of the write on the file system to read/write to the works/word program. Check the file permissions for the installation directory and make sure that she has at least modify rights.

Thanks for the suggestion, Bursley. However, it can't be file access permissions because, apart from those odd windows, her files open OK and can be editted with no trouble. The question is, why is Works getting involved with Word, which is not part of Works?
