printer that LAN port

    I have problem, my printer provide LAN port.

    Question:
    (1) need used === or ==x== LAN cable ?

    (2) need 4 pins or 8 pins (LAN cable)

    (3) need used "Cat5, Cat5E, Cat6

    (4) is any brand printer provide LAN port, that LAN cable can work?

    any idea please!

    Cat5, Cat5E, Cat6 will all work.

    thanks, is use ===== Cat5 , 8pins.

    (1) In Windows XP , need enable File and Print Share?

    (2) I not sure, would you mind to tell me I need what [correct name]?
    LAN Cable: "=======" and "===x=== "

    If you are connecting directly from your printer to the lan port on you PC and not going through a hub/switch/router, then you may need a cross-over cable. With old printers you'd definitely need a cross-over. Newer printers had a switch to do the cross-over in the printer's network port. This allowed you to use a straight-through cable. The latest printers have auto-sensing ports, that will do the cross-over if needed. With these you can use either straight-through or cross-over.
